Introducing . . . ALEM TOTE 2010~$40

The Alem Tote is named in honor of Alem Amensisa. One of the most incredible experiences of my life was when I met my sons’ birth mother. When I asked her what her hopes are for the boys’ futures her response was simple…. “I come from nothing, anything is better than what I can do!” As I sat across the table from Alem, holding her sons in my arms, I tried to decipher my whirlwind of emotions. As a mother to 4 daughters I was overwhelmed by the weight of her choice. The depth of her sacrifice is still beyond comprehension. The love this woman has for her children is the most selfless in existence. I cannot express the intensity of my gratitude to Alem for giving my family the gift of two sons. Not a day goes by that I do not look at my boys and think of the significance of her offering. I am so thankful for her and I will cherish the memory of our embrace forever. In honor of Alem and her sacrifice, I am committing myself to the care of orphans in Africa; you have not been forgotten!

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!!

After all our Christmas orders were filled, together we raised $2700 for orphans in Ethiopia. The Alem Tote has honored a wonderful woman and as helped to provide orphan care for many precious orphans in Ethiopia!

We were also able to send $700 to Haiti for orphan care after the devastating earthquake. We were so excited that we were able to reach orphans in Haiti as well...all because of your generosity!

I can't thank you enough, and I'm so excited that you all LOVE the Alem Tote! It is so dear to me and seeing all of you carrying it makes it that much more special!

Be Blessed!
Heather

STOP HUNGER BIBS~$13

The majority of the African population suffers because of the lack of fundamental resources, namely food and water. In fact, 70% of Africans report that food is their greatest need. A staggering 400,000 orphans a year die from malnutrition. Nothing brings me more joy than hearing my little man say, “Mommy, I’m full!” Nothing is more satisfying than watching my boys play in a tub of clean water. We are blessed immeasurably, and yet most often we take for granted the most basic resources required for survival; which most in Africa live without.

The Stop Hunger Bibs are made with woven cotton and backed with lined vinyl. These bibs are very durable and practical. Ribbon (1.5 inch) with a velcro closure is used to secure the bib around the neck! The bibs measure 11" X 13" not including the ribbon closure. There are slight variations in the bibs due to the differences in ribbon and ric rac used on each bib. They have a large front pocket for catching all those crumbs. Wonderful for toddlers! Each bib is sprayed with Scotch-Gard*, making clean-up a breeze! Simply rinse off and allow to air dry!
The girls' bib is bright and fun...a lot of flowers and blutterflies! The bib is multi-colored with lime green and pinks. The vinyl backing is a soft, pearlized pink. Each bib will have one of our hair bows (shown with the "Praying Hands" bow) attached and ready to wear!  The bibs may vary slightly due to differences in ribbon and detailing on pocket!

Choice of Bow

The boys'/unisex bib is a mismatch of patterns, yet perfectly coordinated in earthy tones...a lot of polka-a-dots, swirls, and stripes! The bib is chocolate brown with multi-colored accents in blues and greens. The vinyl backing is also chocolate brown.  Each bib will have one of our hair bows (shown with the "Rescue Bow" at top)attached and ready to wear! If you are buying the bib for a boy then remove bow and share with a friend! :) The bibs may vary slightly due to differences in ribbon and detailing on pocket!

Blogs for a Cause

As I work to get my blog up and running I have asked "Blogs For A Cause" to decorate my blog! Blogs For A Cause was founded by a young woman by the name of Nikki Cochrane who has successfully raised thousands of dollars for charities around the world, and has been able to travel to the Dominican Republic (twice), Haiti, and Ethiopia to do humanitarian work!
She is currently planning to move to the Dominican Republic in May 2010 and is working on raising funds to support herself while there. Nikki states, "I want to devote all of my time to working with the kids and families; teaching English and helping in orphanages, working in the Boys and Girls Club, doing construction projects, private tutoring, feeding programs, etc."
This young woman is doing amazing things, so please check out her "Blogs For A Cause" blog and her Dominican Blog to see the work she is doing and to see if there is a way that you can support her efforts. We all can do a little, but together GREAT things can happen!!
